Community values

Community is at the heart of who we are

We are a community of professionals who are passionate about good communication. We care about each other and we're committed to helping each other succeed.

We also understand the larger notion of community, and its importance.

Giving

Williams Group gives ten percent of our profits each year to charities and institutions doing good work. Staff members select agencies to receive these dollars. We also make ongoing commitments to our local public schools, and to Heart of West Michigan United Way, which receives $25,000 from our 25-person team annually.

Volunteering

Wg staff members donate hundreds of hours to a variety of causes. From tutoring kids to raising funds to supporting homeless ministries and more, we take our talents to the streets. We also provide pro bono services to area schools and many local nonprofits.

Education

We believe quality education is essential to democracy--and we support local public schools accordingly. Wg donated funds to completely furnish a new library at Congress Elementary School, an inspiring place of growth and learning close to our hearts (many of us have Congress pen pals). Our multi-month contribution of pro bono services helped launch the West Michigan Center for Arts and Technology (WMCAT), an organization offering career-enhancing, life-affirming programs for all ages.

Embracing diversity

Wg is a multi-year supporter of the Summit on Racism and Partners for a Racism-Free Community conducted by the Grand Rapids Area Center for Ecumenism. We also helped the Lakeshore Ethnic Diversity Alliance build its programs and impact. Our internship provides a pathway into the communication field for students of color.

Preserving the environment

We purchased an office space built to LEED standards. We reduce, reuse and recycle every day.

Sending holiday cheer

Every fall Wg selects a current-year release as our holiday book. It's a special tradition that allows us to share our appreciation—and deliver a mid-winter read—to our network of friends. Recent favorites include a special edition of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's The Little Prince, rendered in three dimensions as a popup book and signed by art director Gérard lo Monico, as well as Nelson Mandela's moving story of resolve and triumph, Conversations with Myself.
